Eagles Outlasted by Cardinals

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College Softball program fell to Louisville, 11-4, in the final meeting of the teams at the Harrington Athletics Village.
The Eagles and Cardinals both got started early exchanging one run in the first, with Gator Robinson hitting her second home run of her career.
Louisville added two to the board off of a two-run homer in the third, the Eagles responded adding two in the fourth. A Nicole Giery and Robinson single put them on first and second, a Jules Shields sacrifice bunt advanced both runners. With one out on the board Maycee Hilt hit an RBI double, to even the score, 3-3.Â
The Cardinals answered by adding one in the next half inning off of a home run. In the next frame both teams added one. First up to bat, Nicole Giery hit her 15th home run of the season, putting the Eagles one run away from tying the game.
The Cardinals went on to add six runs in the seventh, the Eagles were unable to put up any runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Eagles series victory landed Boston College a spot in the ACC Championship Tournament, for the first time since 2018. The Eagles will face Syracuse Wednesday, May 8, at 1:00 p.m. at the Duke Softball Stadium in Durham, N.C.
