CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND! Eagles Down Orange in 10-7 Triumph

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND! Boston College lacrosse secured a seventh straight national title appearance with a thrilling 10-7 win over Syracuse on Friday evening in Cary, N.C. BC will face Northwestern in a national championship rematch on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the WakeMed Soccer Park on ESPN.
The defense limited Syracuse to just seven goals, while Shea Dolce made 12 saves and a .632 save percentage. Rachel Clark posted five goals with one assist for six points, while Mckenna Davis registered one score and four assists, equaling five points. The duo combined for six goals and five helpers for 11 points.Â
BC's defense held Syracuse scoreless at one point for 17 minutes in the first half and later for over 20 minutes. With the score tied 2-2, BC went on a 4-0 surge into the second period to take a 6-2 advantage. Clark led the attack with two of the goals with Davis book ending the run. Syracuse climbed back into the contest by scoring twice before the half, giving BC a 6-4 halftime lead.Â
Kayla Martello scored her lone goal to begin the second half before Clark scored back-to-back goals to give BC its largest lead of the game, 9-4. BC's defense once again showed up as Syracuse wouldn't score.Â
The Orange made things interesting in the fourth, as it cut the deficit to 9-7 with 8:56 left in the game. However, the Orange wouldn't score for the rest of the game. Clark iced the game with her fifth score of the game.Â
Emma LoPinto scored the first two goals for BC, while Davis led the Eagles with a pair of caused turnovers and two ground balls. Lydia Colasante led the Eagles with four ground balls.Â
