Eagles Win MIT Cup

BOSTON – The Boston College rowing team faced off MIT in the annual MIT Cup displaying the Eagles programmatic depth on the Charles as three boats won their respective flight in the head-to-head competition.
The Eagles won the Varstiy 8+, Varsity 4+ and the Third Varsity 8+ flights.The Varsity 8+ dominated its flight, the crew of coxswain Madelyn Stevens, Larrabee Pollack, Lauren Schramm, Lauren Meath, Lucy Barratt, Lauren Bauer, Carly Griffin, Peyton Smith, and Sasha Bocek had the fastest time of the day defeating MIT by open water in a 12.5 second margin.Â
The Varsity 4+ team of coxswain Chloe Reisinger, Ruby Barnett, Emma Smirl, Sierra Ross, and Curran Mclaughlin won with a strong time of 7:05.8. The Second Varsity 4+ raced in the same final and was not able to surpass the second place Engineers. Â
Both the Third Varsity 8+ and Fourth Varsity 8+ dominated the Third Varsity 8+ race. The Third Varsity 8+ finished with a time of 7:38.8. While the Fourth Varsity 8+ finished behind while in front of MIT with a time of 7:52.0.
The Second Varsity 8+ was the only crew to fall to the Engineers by a 6.4 margin. The team of coxswain Sophie Fawcett, Phoebe DeVlieger, Brooke Picazio, Kiki Stoker, Molly Devine, Rachele Papineau, Jennie Sherwood, Amanda Hall, and Erin Smith finished with a time of 7:19.6.
Boston College is back in action tomorrow in the annual Gummy Bear Cup against Boston University on the Charles River. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m.
