Eagles add four additions to the class of 2024
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- Boston College volleyball is excited to announce the addition of four new student athletes to join the Eagles in 2024.
Joining the Eagles are libero Emilia Bernal of Greenwich, Conn, setter Aubrey Moore of Darien, Conn, middle blocker Naomi Watson of Atherton, Calif., and graduate transfer from Colorado, libero Morgan Riddle, of Parker, Colo.
Coach Kennedy on the incoming recruits: "I know this 2024 class is going to have a significant impact on the future of this program. They cover a variety of positions so their impact will be felt throughout the front and back row. In addition to the previously announced cohort of Danica, Lucy, Isabelle, and Sequoia, the addition of Emi, Aubrey, Naomi, and Morgan to this class improves the depth of our team across multiple positions. I'm excited for them to get going in the gym this summer and gel with the returners who have had a tremendous spring prepping for the fall."
Emilia Bernal, L, Greenwich, Conn.
Emilia Bernal is a 5'4" libero from Greenwich, Conn. Bernal helped lead the Sacred Heart Greenwich team to back-to-back state championship matches. Bernal was a five-year varsity starter and three-year team captain. Emilia captured individual accolades including all-league selections in 2021 – 2023 and All-NEPSAC selection in 2022 and 2023. Bernal has been a part of Northeast Volleyball Club where she qualified for Nationals each of the last three seasons.
Coach Kennedy on Emilia: "Emi has a passion for the game that I haven't seen in a long time. She made it very clear through the recruiting process that she wanted to be an Eagle and has put in the work to make it to this point in her career. She has quick feet which gives her a good foundation to work with as we develop her skill set. It's exciting to have someone in the gym every day that you know is going to bring the energy and passion we're seeking to continue building our program around."
Aubrey Moore, S, Darien, Conn.
Aubrey joins the Eagles after a second straight Class LL state championship for Darien High School, posting a perfect 50-0 record over the past two seasons. In each of Darien's championship runs Moore was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. This past season, she had 666 assists, 155 digs, and 83 aces. Moore set a state record accumulating 2,108 assists over her career and was named the 2023 – 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Connecticut in January. Moore qualified for National each of the past three years, alongside teammate Emilia Bernal.
Coach Kennedy on Aubrey: "Aubrey is a really special setter that has been so much fun to watch develop over the past few years. She improves every time we see her on the court and the sky seems to be the limit for what she can do. Her location and understanding of how to run an offense are outstanding and as of recently she's really developed her defensive skills and serve as critical assets to her game. I'm excited to welcome Aubrey to the Heights this summer and get her to start clicking with our attackers."
Naomi Watson, MB, Atherton, Calif.
Naomi Watson is a 6'2" middle blocker from Atherton, CA, and attends Sacred Heart Prep. At Sacred Heart Prep, Watson had 89 kills and led her team with 51 blocks in her senior season. Her high school team went on to win the WBAL her senior year. Watson currently plays with the No. 1 ranked club team in Northern California, Vision Volleyball Club. The team has already qualified for 18's Nationals at the Open level.
Coach Kennedy on Naomi: "Naomi is someone that is a little bit of a late bloomer to the volleyball scene. She is a long and agile 6'2" that with a bit of training, can be an effective blocker and attacker at the next level. She has a great work ethic and I know our staff is excited to start getting her into an ACC level gym to see what she can do in one of the country's top conferences. She has such a positive outlook on things, and her energetic personality will be an immediate positive addition to the team. We're looking forward to having Naomi on the Heights this fall."
Morgan Riddle, L, Parker, Colo.
Morgan joins the Eagles after a four-year career at the University of Colorado. A 5'8" libero from Parker, Colorado will start grad school on the Heights this fall. Riddle recently had her most successful campaign in 2023 with the Buffaloes. In the 2023 season Riddle played in 30 matches and averaged career best numbers of 271 digs, 81 assists, and 19 aces.
Coach Kennedy on Morgan: "When Morgan arrived on campus to visit she was an immediate hit with our team. I know we don't carry many transfers on our roster but our team immediately gravitated to Morgan's personality. She recently had her best season at Colorado and I know her experience and maturity will be a positive addition to our team this fall."
