Eagles Earn Victory at BU Trophy Regatta

Sailing places first overall at BU Trophy, while also competing at the Marchiando Trophy
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College Sailing team earned a first place finish at the Boston University Trophy, while also competing at the Marchiando Trophy over the weekend of Mar. 30-31.
Boston University Trophy
Boston College earned the victory at the Boston University Trophy with a total of 33 points over the course of the two-day regatta. The meet was hosted by Boston University, and it took place Mar. 30-31 with the Eagles going up against Boston University, Rhode Island, Bowdoin, Brown, MIT, Northeastern, Tufts, Bates, UMass.
The division A team of Ryan McGauley and Kennedy Laureigh led Eagles to 19 points over the weekend. The duo earned five top-five finishes over six races, including two first place finishes.
The division B team of James O'Gwen and Emily Marlas kept the momentum for the Eagles, and earned first in their division with 14 points. O'Gwen and Marlas finished top-three in all six races, while also earning one first place finish.
Boston University (49), Rhode Island (52), Bowdoin (54), and Brown (58) rounded out the top-five at the regatta.

Marchiando Trophy
The Eagles placed seventh overall at the Marchiando Trophy with a record of 5-13. The meet was hosted by MIT on Mar. 30-31, and the Eagles were joined by Yale, Roger Williams, U.S. Coast Guard, Rhode Island, Tufts, and the College of Charleston.
Boston College opened the regatta with a 1-5 record in round one, with the lone victory over Tufts with a 1-2-5 finish. The Eagles would earn two more victories in round 2 over Coast Guard and Tufts, both having 1-2-5 finishes. Boston College would wrap up the regatta with a 2-5 record in round 3. The Eagles had two 1-3-6 finishes against Charleston and Tufts that led to victories.
Boston College was led by Skippers Peter Joslin, Caroline Sibilly, Peter Busch, Michaela O'Brien, Michael Kirkman, Colleen O'Brien, who were joined by a Crew of Sara Schumann, Katelyn McGauley, Jack Redmond, Matt Budington, Libby Redmond, and Chip Kreuzkamp.

Up next: Men's and Women's Sailing will participate in three regattas over the weekend of April 6-7. The Eagles will be competing at the NEISA Open Team Race Conf. Champs, Yale Women's Team Race, and the Mystic Lake Team Race.
