Abby Dunning’s Historic Shutout Powers Eagles Past No. 16 Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C.-- Abby Dunning led the Eagles to a 4-0 shutout victory against No.16 Clemson for the first time in program history at McWhorter Stadium.
Dunning led BC from inside the circle pitching all 7.0 innings allowing just three hits, and four walks. Dunning struckout seven batters on 140 total pitches. Dunning finished the game with a .70 ERA against the Tigers.
The Eagles got the momentum started in the fourth inning. Nicole Giery advanced to second on a wild patch, and a Gator Robinson single brought her through home plate. Jordan Stephens extended the lead advancing Robinson home. Lending the Eagles an early 2-0 lead.
The Tigers were unable to respond through the next three innings. Hannah Slike kept the bat swinging in the top of the seventh. With Katelyn Deguire and Kali Case on bases, a Slike single up the middle brought both runners home. The Eagles sealed the victory, 4-0.
The Eagles return to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. for the final game of the series against No.16 Clemson at McWhorter Stadium.
