Eagles Win Two of Three Flights at Jesuit Invitational

Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ finish first in Jesuit Invitiational
PHILADELPHIA-- Opening the spring season against Loyola, Fairfield, Holy Cross, and St. Joe's. Boston College dominated each of its races on the Schulkill River Saturday morning.Â
The host St. Joes won the Varsity 8+, edging Boston College by just 0.9 seconds. The Eagles were victorious in both the Second Varsity 8+ and the Varsity 4+. Due to conditions on the river the Second Varsity 4+ and Third Varsity 8+ were canceled. The Second Varsity 8+ started off on a floating start while the Varsity 4+ raced 1750 meters.
The teams were racing in a cross tailwind as well as a tail current.
In the Varsity 8+ race, Boston College's team of coxswain Madelyn Stevens, Larrabee Pollack, Lauren Schramm, Lauren Meath, Lucy Barratt, Lauren Bauer, Carly Griffin, Peyton Smith, and Sasha Bocek finished the 2,000-meter course in a time of 6:20.2. St. Joe's finished the race with a winning time of 6:19.3.
In the Second Varsity 8+, the team of coxswain Sophie Fawcett, Phoebe DeVlieger, Brooke Picazio, Kiki Stoker, Molly Devine, Amanda Hall, Jennie Sherwood, Rachele Papineau, and Erin Smith posted a winning time of 6:30.1. Dominating St. Joe's and Fairfiled in the final by 8.2 seconds.
The Varsity 4+ squad of coxswain Chloe Reisinger, Emma Smirl, Lauren Craven, Curran McLaughlin, and Amelia Sanger. Finished the 1750 meter course with a time of 6:18.1, defeating St. Joe's and Holy Cross in the final by 7.7 seconds.
