Boston College and Providence tip off on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on ESPNU
BOSTON COLLEGE VS. PROVIDENCE - ALL-TIME SERIES
- Boston College is 52-60 all-time in the series with Providence.
- This is the 113th meeting between the two programs; Providence is tied with Holy Cross as BC's most common opponent.
- In the last meeting between the two schools on Dec. 4, 2018, the Friars took a 100-95 overtime win at Conte Forum.
- The Eagles and Friars first met on Jan. 24, 1946 at Boston Garden.
- BC and Providence were charter members of the Big East in 1979.
- The two teams have played 13 times since the 2006-07 season; Boston College was 6-7 in those games.
- The Eagles have dropped their last four in Providence and are 15-36 all-time at the Providence Civic Center/Dunkin Donuts Center.Â
BOSTON COLLEGE VS. THE BIG EAST
- Since 2005-06, Boston College is 9-13 versus Big East opponents.
- BC downed St. John's, 86-80, on Dec. 10 at the Barclays Center.
- Last year, BC dropped a 77-56 decision vs. Villanova in the Never Forget Classic at the Prudential Center in Newark on Dec. 10, 2022.
- BC faced two Big East foes in 2020-21 at Bubbleville: #3 Villanova (L, 67-76, Nov. 25, 2020) and St. John's (L, 93-97, Nov. 30, 2020).
- From 1979-2005, BC went 181-221 in Big East conference play.
- The Eagles were Big East Champions in 1997 and 2001.
BOSTON COLLEGE IN THE NIT
- Boston College is making its 13th appearance in the NIT, compiling a 17-13 all-time record in the tournament.
- The Eagles appeared in the 1969 championship game, falling to Temple, 89-76, at Madison Square Garden.
- BC has also advanced to the NIT semifinals on three occasions (1974, 1988).
- In their last NIT appearance in 2018, the Eagles dropped a 79-62 decision at Western Kentucky.
- Boston College is 5-3 all-time in NIT true road games.
- This marks the second meeting between the Friars and Eagles in the NIT; Providence won, 75-58, on March 24, 1993.
POST SEASON
- For the second time in his career, Quinten Post was named to the ACC's All-Tournament team. He also made it in 2022.
- Post led all players (min. three games) in scoring at the ACC Tournament, averaging 21.3 points per game.
- His full stat line for the week in D.C.: 21.3 points / 11.3 rebounds / 3.7 assists / 1.3 blocks / 1.0 steals per game.
- Post totalled 64 points and 34 rebounds, joining Duke's Jayson Tatum (2017) and Zion Williamson (2019) as the only ACC players in the last decade with 60+ points and 30+ rebounds at an ACC Tournament.
- He poured in 30 points to go with 13 rebounds in the opening round win over Miami. It was his third 30-point double-double of the season. Only Purdue's Zach Edey (7) has more 30-point double-doubles.
- Post registered a near triple-double against Clemson in 24 minutes, logging 11 points / 8 boards / 7 assists.
- He finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in the upset overtime loss to Virginia.

- Quinten Post is two 3-pointers and five assists away from becoming only the third major conference player in the last 27 years to tally 50 3-pointers, 100 assists, 50 blocks, and 30 steals in a single season.Â

DEFENSE HAS TRAVELED SINCE PITT LOSS
- After yielding a season-high 90 points and a season-high 16 3FG vs. Pitt on March 2, BC's defensive efforts have been stout.
- Over the last five games, the Eagles have compiled a 4-1 mark, holding opponents to 60.8 points per game.
- BC held three of the five opponents - Miami, Clemson, and Virginia - to under 60 points in regulation.
- BC has defended the perimeter well during that stretch, holding foes to only 5.8 3FG/g on 24.6% shooting from the outside.
- During the five-game stretch, BC ranks 16th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency (89.5) per Bart Torvik.
POST NAMED TO ALL-ACC SECOND & ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAMSÂ
- Quinten Post earned a pair of ACC postseason honors, named to the All-ACC Second and All-Defensive teams.
- He was also selected to the Associated Press' All-ACC team, as well as the ACC's All-Tournament team.
- The elite 7-footer is one of two players to rank among the top 10 in the ACC regular season in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and field goal percentage. Defensively, Post has established himself as one of the top rim protectors in the country. Â
- He finished the regular season second in the ACC - and 46th nationally - averaging 1.8 blocked shots per game. Â
- This marks the second consecutive year that Post has been honored by the ACC. Â
- Last year, he was named the ACC's Most Improved Player while also earning honorable mention all-league accolades.Â
- Post is the first Boston College player to earn All-ACC Second Team honors since Ky Bowman in 2018-19. Â
- He also becomes the third Eagle to be part of the All-ACC Defensive team: Tyrelle Blair (2007-08); Steffon Mitchell (2019-20).
POST AMONG NATION'S ELITE
- Quinten Post is one of the best players in the country and his stat line for the Eagles this season is perfect evidence.
- He is the only major conference player in the nation averaging 17.0 points, 8.2 boards, 2.9 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game.
- The last ACC player to average that season stat line: Wake Forest's Tim Duncan in 1996-97.
- Post is one of two players to rank among the top 10 in the ACC in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and FG% this year.
- Using only points and rebounds: Post is one of seven major conference players averaging at least 17.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game; including Providence's Devin Carter and two in the ACC (Omier/Filipowski).
- Dating back to the 1990-91 season, Post joins four other BC players - Jared Dudley, Craig Smith (3x), Danya Abrams (2x), and Bill Curley (2x) - as the only Eagles to average at least 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds for a season.
- Using only points and assists: Post is one of 21 major conference players to average at least 17.0 points and 2.9 assists.Â
- Post is one of three players nationally with a 50/40/80 line of percentages - at 51.1 FG%, 43.6 3FG%, and 81.8 FT%.
- It's not a small sample: in 83 games at BC since 2021-22, Post has registered a 50/40/80 shooting line - .515 FG; .418 3FG; .800 FT. - the only active player (min. 10.0 ppg) to post such shooting lines since the start of 2021-22- present.
- Over the past three seasons vs. major conference opponents (65 games), Post is averaging nearly 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks while shooting .517/.428/.796.
- He has logged 11 double-doubles this season - the most by a BC player since 2003-04 when Craig Smith also had 11.
- Post and Purdue's Zach Edey are the only two players nationally with at least three 30-point double-doubles.
McGLOCKTON ONE OF THE MOST IMPROVED
- Devin McGlockton earned three votes for the ACC's Most Improved Player award, with major jumps in several stat categories.
- Through 34 games, McGlockton is fourth on the Eagles in scoring (10.1) and second in rebounding (6.2) and blocks (1.0).
- McGlockton's per game averages have increased across the board: scoring +4.0, rebounding +2.3, and blocked shots +0.4.
- In ACC play (20 games), McGlockton averaged 11.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 32 minutes per game.
- Year-over-year, he has almost tripled his scoring (+6.3) and more than doubled his rebounding (+3.0) in ACC games.
- In ACC games, McGlockton connected on nearly 60% of his shot attempts from the floor (96-162); up from .500 a year ago.
- The 6-7 forward ranks 56th nationally in effective FG% (.612) and 74th nationally in true shooting percentage (.628).
- He has two double-doubles and has set new career-highs in scoring (30), rebounding (14), and blocks (3) this year.
HARRIS SHINES AMONG THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF THE HEIGHTS
- Claudell Harris Jr. has scored in double figures in 23 of the 33 games in which he has appeared this season.
- Harris has scored 20 or more 17 times in his career - including five with BC this season.
- Over the last five games, Harris is averaging nearly 17.0 points per game - including an 18.0 ppg clip in ACCT play.
- In the ACC Tournament game vs. Clemson, Harris led all scorers with 27 points, on 10-of-22 shots including five 3-pointers.
- On Feb. 13, Harris led the Eagles with 20 points (8-12 FG; 4-6 3FG) at Louisville.Â
- He scored a season-high 29 points - including the 1,000th of his career - knocking down 7-of-10 3FG against Lehigh.
- At Georgia Tech, Harris had 26 points shooting 8-of-10 from the floor - and 4-of-4 from beyond the arc - in the road win.
- The junior guard also added 22 points at Vanderbilt, making 9-of-13 shots - including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
- He shined for Charleston Southern for two seasons, earning All-Big South second team honors as a sophomore a season ago.
- The 6-3 guard averaged 17.5 points per game last year - the second-best scoring mark in the Big South.
- Harris scored in double figures in 28 of 30 games for the Buccaneers in 2022-23 - including two consecutive 30-point games. Â
- Harris spent two seasons at Charleston Southern and was named to the 2021-22 Big South All-Freshman Team, averaging 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 31 games played (14 starts) in his first collegiate season.
ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE HELPERS
- As a playmaker, Jaeden Zackery ranks among the top players nationally in three different categories.
- He is 93rd nationally in assist/turnover ratio (2.25:1), 83rd in total assists (144), and 114th in assists per game (4.2).
- Earlier this season, Zackery became the 14th different Eagle since 1996-97 to reach the 100 assist mark in a season.
- Zackery's 144 assists are the most by a BC player since Ky Bowman (165) during the 2017-18 campaign.
- Zackery is one of only three Boston College players to tally at least 144 assists and 61 steals in a single season.
- The others: Michael Adams (1982-83, 1984-85) and Duane Woodward (1997-98).
BRINGING YOU THE BEST OF THE 80'S AND 90'S
- Boston College has put forth two games with at least 95 points on the scoreboard - at Georgia Tech and vs. Holy Cross.
- Prior to this season, it marked the team's highest scoring total since Feb. 16, 2022 vs. Notre Dame (95).
- The 95 points at Georgia Tech tied for the third-most points scored by BC in an ACC game since joining the league in 2005-06.
- It was the most points in a regulation game for BC since Jan. 1, 2017, when BC tallied 96 points in a home win over Syracuse.
- It tied as the highest single-game scoring total of the Earl Grant era and tied for the most points in a regulation Division I game under Grant as a head coach (95 pts at CofC vs. Hofstra - Feb. 14, 2019)
- In ACC regular season play, Boston College has scored better than 80 points on four occasions - all wins.
- Earl Grant teams are 49-6 scoring at least 80 points, 25-3 when they score at least 85, and 8-2 when scoring 90 or more.
