Three Eagles Earn Bids to NCAA Championships

Luca Berman, Levi Hughes, and Elijah Onik will represent Boston College at the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Luca Berman, Levi Hughes, and Elijah Onik will represent Boston College at the 2024 NCAA Fencing Championships on March 21-24 in Columbus, Ohio as announced by the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Freshman Elijah Onik will compete in Men's Foil at the NCAA Fencing Championships, which will take place on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Onik is coming off a second place finish in Men's Foil at the 2024 NCAA Northeast Regionals, where he competed against top talent from the region. The Glen Rock, N.J. native also placed top-10 at the ACC Championships meet, finishing seventh overall.Â
Junior Levi Hughes will be representing the Eagles in Men's Epee, which will be at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, March 23. The Houston, Texas native left the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a third place finish. Hughes also took home the bronze medal at the ACC Championships for his stellar performance.Â
Freshman Luca Berman will be competing in Men's Sabre at the NCAA Fencing Championships. Berman will battle against top Sabre talent from across the country on Satursay, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The New York City, N.Y. native is coming off two ninth place finishes at the ACC Fencing Championships and the NCAA Northeast Regionals.  Â
The NCAA Fencing Championships will take place March 21-24 in Columbus, Ohio on the campus of the Ohio State University.Â
Fencers will compete in a round-robin format of five bouts. After the round robin round, the top-four finishers in each weapon will fence in semifinal bouts, with winners fencing to determine first and second places, and non-advancing fencers being awarded a tie for third place. Each school's finish in the championships will be based on points earned by each individual. Schools will be awarded one point for each victory by its student-athletes during the round-robin competition.
