Eagles Earn Two Top-Three Finishes in Second Weekend of Season

Boston College finishes second at John Jackson Team Race, while finishing third at Jen Harris Women’s Team Race
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Boston College Sailing team earned two top-three finishes in the second weekend of the season at the John Jackson Team Race and the Jen Harris Women's Team Race over Mar. 9-10.Â
John Jackson Team Race
Boston College earned second place at the John Jackson Team Race with a 6-1 record over the course of the two-day regatta. The meet was hosted by Georgetown, and it took place Mar. 9-10 with the Eagles going up against Georgetown, Old Dominion, Tulane, UPenn, Fordham, Connecticut College, and Vermont.Â
The Eagles started off the regatta with a 1-2-3 finish and victory over Connecticut College, while also Fordham in the second race with a 1-3-4 finish. The Eagles would finish off the regatta with four straight wins over Old Dominion, UPenn, Tulane, and Vermont after losing to Georgetown in the third race of the meet. Â
Boston College was led by Skippers Colleen O'Brien, Michael Kirkman, Peter Joslin and Peter Busch, joined by a Crew of Matt Budington, Sara Schumann, and Lourdes Gallo

Jen Harris Women's Team Race
The Eagles finished in third out of 12 teams at the Jen Harris Women's Team Race with a record of 8-3. The meet was hosted by Navy on Mar. 9-10, and the Eagles were joined by Yale, UPenn, Brown, Cornell, College of Charleston, Tulane, Old Dominion, Navy, South Florida, George Washington, and Hobart & William Smith. Yale took the win with a record of 10-1, while UPenn, Brown, and Cornell rounded out the top-five.
The Eagles earned two early victories over Brown and Charleston with finishes of 1-2-6 and 1-2-4. After a loss to UPenn, BC ripped off six straight victories including 1-2-3 finishes against South Florida and Hobart & William Smith.Â
Boston College was led by Skippers Caroline Sibilly, Libby Redmond, and Michaela O'Brien, who were joined by a Crew of Katelyn McGauley, Kennedy Laureigh, and Sophia Hacket.Â

Up next: The Eagles will compete in three regattas over the weekend of March 16-17. Boston College will be at the Southern New England Team Race, Geiger Trophy, and the Salve Regina Team Race.Â
