
Sidberry Scores 23 in Loss to No. 21/23 Syracuse

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball fell to No. 21/23 Syracuse, 75-63, on Sunday afternoon inside Conte Forum.Â
The Eagles fall to 11-13 and 3-8 in league action, while the Orange moves to 17-4 and 8-3 in league action.
Teya Sidberry poured in a career-high 23 points and tied a personal best with 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. JoJo Lacey provided a spark off the bench, scoring a season-high 21 points, and dished out four rebounds and four assists. The pair of Sidberry and Lacey combined to score 44 points.
Dontavia Waggoner registered nine points, six boards, and two steals. Kaylah Ivey led the way with five assists.Â
Five lead changes and four ties highlighted the first period. Daley gave the Eagles an 11-10 lead before Syracuse ended the period with eight straight points to go into the second leading 18-11.
JoJo Lacey started the second having a hand in the first six points with a pair of field goals and an assist, slicing the deficit to one. JaKayla Thompson capped off an 8-0 spurt to give the Eagles a 19-18 advantage.Â
The Eagles stretched their lead to five following a Lacey trifecta. BC stayed in front and went into the half with a 31-30 edge.Â
BC's cushion grew to six on multiple occasions in the third frame. After a Sidberry layup that made the score 44-38 in the Eagles' favor, Syracuse answered with a 9-0 spurt to go up by three. Lacey's second 3-pointer of the game tied up the contest just before both teams traded baskets to keep the game knotted up 49-all going into the final period.Â
Syracuse scored four quick points to break a 52-52 for a commanding lead. The Eagles stayed within striking distance despite 'Cuse later going up by six. Three straight from Lacey brought the hosts to within three, but the Orange pulled away scoring 13 of the final 19 points.Â
Dyaisha Fair led Syracuse with 38 points on 13-of-25 shooting from the field.Â
The Eagles return to action in their second straight home game on Thursday against Virginia at 6 p.m. in Conte Forum.Â
