BC Trio Earn Hockey East Monthly Awards

Leonard, J. Hagens and Fowler pick up the awards
AMESBURY, Mass. – Three Boston College men's hockey players earned Hockey East monthly awards for November, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon.

Ryan Leonard was named the Player of the Month and James Hagens was named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month, while Jacob Fowler was recognized as the Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Month.

The trio were instrumental for the Eagles in November, boasting a 7-2-0 record that included six wins over ranked opponents.

Leonard recorded 13 points over the nine games with eight goals and five assists, which included a goal scoring streak of six games. The Massachusetts native scored four game-winning goals in November, including the two wins against No. 5 Maine and the road game at No. 10 Providence. Finishing with a plus-9 rating for the month, Leonard tallied all but one of his points over the scoring streak, registering eight goals and four assists.

Hagens finished third on the team in points with 11, tallying two goals and nine assists. The freshman opened the month with four assists over the weekend sweep of No. 10 St. Cloud State before following that up with the primary assists on the game-winning goal in the 3-2 come-from-behind victory over No. 5 Maine on Nov. 8. He capped off the month with his first multi-goal performance, scoring twice in the win over No. 15 Dartmouth.

Fowler played in eight games during November, posting a 6-1-0 record with a .936 saves percentage and a 1.76 goals against average. The sophomore netminder opened the month with four-straight ranked wins in the weekend sweeps over No. 10 St. Cloud State and No. 5 Maine. Fowler earned two shutouts, making 26 saves in the 3-0 defeat of Maine and 28 saves in the 3-0 victory over Northeastern.

BC plays host to UConn tonight at Kelley Rink. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+ along with a radio broadcast on WEEI 850 AM.
