
Ezeiruaku Named Semifinalist for the Lombardi Award

Lombardi Award recognizes the best lineman in the country.
HOUSTON -- Boston College defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku has been named one of 12 semifinalists for the Lombardi Award as announced by the Rotary Club of Houston on Thursday afternoon. Named for legendary coach Vince Lombardi, the Lombardi Award has annually recognized the best lineman in the country since 1970. It is presented to outstanding linemen who best epitomize Coach Lombardi's values of leadership, courage, performance and discipline on and off the field.
Four finalists will be revealed on Nov. 20. The finalists will be honored at an awards banquet in Houston on Dec. 11.
Ezeiruaku is tied for fifth in FBS with 9.0 sacks and fifth in sacks per game (1.13). He is also nine in tackles for loss (12.0) and sixth in TFLs per game (1.5). Ezeiruaku, a two-time captain, leads BC with 55 tackles to go with two forced fumbles and six quarterback hurries.
BC linebacker Luke Kuechly previously won the Rotary Lombardi Award in 2011.
