Ezeiruaku Selected as a Bednarik Award Semifinalist

Senior defensive end one of 20 candidates for defensive player of the year.
PHILADELPHIA -- Boston College football's Donovan Ezeiruaku (Williamstown, N.J.) has been named one of 20 semifinalists for the 30th Chuck Bednarik Award as announced by the Maxwell Football Club on Tuesday afternoon. The award is presented annually to the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.
Ezeiruaku leads the BC defense with 58 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks. He ranks second in the ACC in both TFLs and sacks as well as being fourth in FBS in sacks and ninth in TFLs. He has added two forced fumbles and a team-high eight quarterback hurries.
For his career, Ezeiruaku ranks third all-time at BC in sacks at 23.5.
Ezeiruaku is a semifinalist for two national awards after previously being added to the Lombardi Award semifinalist group.
Three finalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced on Nov. 26 and a finalist round of voting will take place at that time. Eligible voters include Maxwell Football Club members, NCAA head football coaches, sports information directors and selected national media. All semifinalists are listed in alphabetical order by school with the player's school, position and class designated.
