Varsity 8+ Finishes First at the Head of the Fish

Eagles gather six top five finishes out of the program's 10 entries
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Boston College women's rowing team had a top finish at the annual Head of the Fish Regatta on Saturday afternoon, garnering six top five finishes out of the program's 10 entries.Â
The program's first varsity 8+ finished first out of 15 entries. The first place finish was coxed by Madelyn Stevens, Lauren Schramm, Lucy Barratt, Lauren Bauer, Molly Devine, Brooke Picazio, Grace Yi, and Rachele Papineau. The crew finished the 2.3 mile course with a time of 11:24.15, in front of Cornell and MIT. Â
In the second varsity eight flight, the top second boat finished in third third, while the second and third 2V8+ finished 7th and 8th respectively. The third place squad finished with a time of 12:04.52 behind MIT and Cornell.Â
Boston College continued the successful showing in the Varsity 4+ event with the second varsity 4+ finishing second out of 35 entries with a time of 13:01.01. The first varsity 4+ followed crossing the line with a time of 13:18.64 in fourth. Following the first varsity 4+ was the third four (13:39.81) and the fourth boat (14:02.13).Â
Both of Boston College's freshman/novice eights placed second and fifth on Saturday. The first Novice 8+ clocked a 12:07.16, while the second Novice 8+ finished with a time of 13:49.40.
