Tuesday Night Rivalry Returns as Syracuse Visits

BOSTON COLLEGE VS. SYRACUSE - ALL-TIME SERIES

Today's game marks the 85th meeting between the two schools. BC is 26-58 all-time vs. Syracuse; 13-23 at home vs. the Orange.
This is the second of two regular season meetings vs. the Orange. The Eagles dropped a 69-59 decision at the Dome on Jan. 10.
Syracuse is Boston College's fourth-most common opponent. BC has lost its last 11 - and 13 of its last 14 - against the Cuse.
From 1979-2005, both teams were members of the Big East. BC was 17-34 against Syracuse in Big East play.
In ACC play, the Eagles are 3-18 versus the Orange.
The last win against Syracuse came on Feb. 28, 2018 (85-70).

MOST IMPROVED McGLOCKTON

Devin McGlockton is showing major jumps in several stat categories.
Through 20 games, McGlockton is fourth on the Eagles in scoring (10.6) and second in rebounding (6.6) and blocks (1.1).
McGlockton's per game averages have increased across the board: scoring +4.5, rebounding +2.2, and blocked shots +0.4.
In ACC play, McGlockton is averaging 13.9 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Year-over-year, he has almost tripled his scoring (+8.4) and more than doubled his rebounding averages (+4.2) in ACC games.
His .646 FG% (51-79) is 2nd in ACC play; up from .500 a year ago.
McGlockton registered the fifth-highest single-game scoring total in ACC play - a 30-point performance at Georgia Tech.
He has logged two double-doubles this season, both in ACC play: at Syracuse (15p/14r) and at Virginia Tech (19p/10r).
He has set new single-game career-highs in scoring (30), rebounding (14), and blocks (3) this year.

POST AMONG NATION'S ELITE

Quinten Post is one of the best players in the country and his stat line for the Eagles this season is perfect evidence.
He is one of two major conference players averaging at least 16.6 points, 7.4 boards, 2.8 assists, and 1.8 blocks per game.
Using only points and rebounds: Post is one of nine major conference players averaging at least 16.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game; five of those players are on the Wooden midseason list; two in the ACC (Flipkowski, Omier).
Using only points and assists: Post is one of 26 major conference players to average at least 16.6 points and 2.8 assists per game. Since 1996-97, he is one of seven major conference players 6-10 or taller to average 16.6 ppg/2.8 apg.
Post is also posting nearly a 50/40/80 line of shooting percentages - at 49.8 FG%, 42.6 3FG%, and 82.8 FT%.
Post is one of three players in the nation - and the only ACC standout - to post those percentages (min. 15.0 ppg).
It's not a small sample: in 69 games at BC since 2021-22, Post has registered nearly a 50/40/80 shooting line - .512 FG; .408 3FG; .797 FT. - the only active player (min. 12.0 ppg) to post such shooting lines since the start of 2021-22- present.
Over the past two seasons vs. major conference opponents (36 games), Post is averaging 15.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks while shooting .511/.425/.821.

Quinten Post is 12 points away from scoring the 1,000th point of his collegiate career.
The 7-footer has tallied 988 points in 108 games between Mississippi State and Boston College.
Since arriving at BC in 2021-22, Post has scored 878 points in 68 games in an Eagles' uniform (12.9 ppg avg).

RECORD BOOK RESET

Jaeden Zackery is 23 steals away from cracking Boston College's all-time top 10 list. He has 136 swipes in 86 games.
Additionally, he is three 3FG attempts from qualifying for BC's all-time top 10 list in 3-point FG percentage (.389).
Quinten Post needs 13 more blocks to crack the Eagles' top 10 career list in that category. He has 83 swats in 68 games.

Boston College ranks 128th nationally (7th ACC) in scoring, at 76.2 points per game.
A year ago, the Eagles were 303rd (14th ACC) in points per game, at nearly 10 points less (66.6) per outing.
BC currently ranks 119th nationally (6th ACC) in field goal percentage, connecting on 45.90% of its shot attempts.
A season ago, the Eagles were 222nd (11th ACC), making only 43.7% of its shots from the floor.

Boston College's 16-point comeback win at Georgia Tech was the largest for the Eagles since Jan. 15, 2022.

CAN'T KNOCK THE HUSTLE

Boston College is 4-2 this year, 7-1 in 2022-23 and 12-4 since Feb. 21, 2022 when Jaeden Zackery scores at least 15 points.
Zackery tallied a career-high 21 points in nearly 39 minutes of play at The Citadel on Nov. 10.
Against Notre Dame, Zackery had a team-high 20 points, grabbing three rebounds, and dropping three dimes.
On Dec. 8 against Holy Cross, Zackery led BC with 18 points to go with five boards, four assists, and a steal.

Zackery has committed one or fewer turnovers in 11 games in 2023-24 and has 27 total turns in 585 minutes of play so far.
Boston College has won 10 of its last 14 games when Zackery commits one or fewer turnovers in a game.
Zackery is one of four ACC players (Beekman - 9; Mintz/Miller/Zackery 8) with at least eight games of 10 pts/4 asst/2 stl.

Per KenPom, Boston College ranks 57th nationally (6th ACC) in adjusted offensive efficiency with a 113.7 rating.
The metric measures the total points scored by a team per 100 possessions.
It is the highest national ranking in the key offensive metric since the 2013-14 season, when BC was 32nd with a 114.3 mark.
In ACC play only, BC ranks eighth overall in the conference, with a 105.3 adjusted offensive efficiency mark.

ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE HELPERS

Boston College's top three scorers - Quinten Post, Claudell Harris Jr., and Jaeden Zackery - are also its top three assists men.
Zackery ranks third in scoring (11.5) and first in assists (4.3), Post is first in scoring (16.6) and second in assists (2.8), and Harris is second in scoring (14.1) and third in assists (1.8). The trio combines for nearly 9.0 of the 13.8 assists per game.
