Eagles fall in Beanpot Opening Round
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Boston University Terriers topped the Boston College women's hockey team, 3(1)-3(0) in a shootout on Tuesday night in the first semifinal of the 45th Women's Beanpot Tournament at Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
The Eagles will now face Harvard on Tuesday, Jan. 23 in the Beanpot consolation game.
BU scored just over two minutes into the opening frame. Sammy Taber responded and scored BC's first goal of the night on a breakaway. BU responded with their second goal of the night before Caroline Geffredo fired off an equalizer for a 2-2 tie going into the first break-up one. After a scoreless second period, the Terriers scored early in the final period to give them the advantage until a little over one minute left. Katie Pyne tipped in the game-tying goal to send the Semifinals to overtime.
Neither team could capitalize during the five-minute overtime period, sending the game down to a shootout to decide who advances to the finals. BU was able to clinch the win during the shootout.

- BC is now 35-19-2 all-time in the Beanpot since becoming a varsity program (1995-present) … BC holds a first-round record of 9-3-0 Against BU… all of BU's wins against BC in the Beanpot have come in the first round.
- Kaite Pyne led the Eagles with a team-high five shots on goal.
- Keri Clougherty, Kiley Erickson and Jade Arnone all finished with four blocked shots for the Eagles ... they were able to get in front of 30 shots today.
- Grace Campbell was in the net for the Eagles. She had 30 saves on the night.
- Sammy Smigliani led the Eagles in points today with two on two assists.
