
Eagles Down Pitt in Overtime Win

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball outlasted Pitt in an 84-71 overtime victory on Sunday afternoon inside Conte Forum.Â
The Eagles improve to 10-8 and 2-3 in ACC play after an eighth straight win at home. Pitt falls to 6-12 and 0-5 in the league.Â
Andrea Daley totaled a game-high 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds and three steals. Dontavia Waggoner registered a season-best 21 points, eight off the glass, three steals, and three assists. The pair led five players who scored in double figures. T'yana Todd scored 10 points with five rebounds.Â
Teya Sidberry registered her first BC double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds (six offensive).Â
BC bounced back after struggling to score in the fourth period, outscoring Pitt 19-6 in overtime and made 6-of-7 field goals. The Eagles scored the first seven points of OT and never looked back. Kaylah Ivey netted six of her 11 points in the extra period, including the dagger with 1:12 left to put the Eagles up by 10.Â
The Panthers made only seven of their final 19 attempts after shooting 84.6 percent in the third period.Â
Pitt came back in the fourth quarter to force overtime, as Aislin Malcolm tied up the contest with a jumper after Daley hit a pair at the line to give BC a 65-63 edge.Â
It was a defensive battle in the first half, with each team going cold from the field. The Eagles held an early 11-7 advantage after a Kayla Lezama bucket. Pitt scored the final four points of the first period to tie up the contest going into the second.Â
The Eagles' defense continued to stymie the Pitt offense, limiting the visitors to just three field goals. Daley and Lezama aided in BC growing its lead to as much as 11 after a 4-of-5 stretch. Daley ended the half with a layup to give the hosts a 32-27 lead at the break.Â
Boston College kept the lead despite the Panthers' hot shooting. Todd hit her lone 3-pointer at the end of the third to grow the lead to eight, 58-50.Â
The Eagles forced 26 turnovers for 27 points and recorded a 40-28 showing in the paint. BC also pulled down 19 offensive rebounds for 22 second-chance points. Four players recorded multiple steals as well.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday against Wake Forest at 7 p.m. inside Conte Forum.Â
