Eagles Impress in Busy Weekend Slate

BRUNSWICK, ME. –  Boston College Sailing completed its third weekend of the fall season by competing in four races, Mrs. Hurst, Hoyt Trophy, Hood Trophy, and the Eagle Invite.Â
The Eagles started off the weekend with an amazing performance at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, placing second overall as a team with 42 points. The A division team of Caroline Sibilly and Katelyn McGauley finished top five in three of the five races, totaling 26 points overall. The B division team of Michaela O'Brien and Sophia Hacket placed top five in four of the five races, including two first place finishes. As a duo, O'Brien and Hacket totaled 16 points. Yale University placed first place at the regatta with 19 total points. Dartmouth and MIT rounded out the top five finishers.Â
Boston College continued the weekend competing in the Hoyt Trophy hosted by Brown University. The Eagles placed third overall with 178 points. The A division team of Michael Kirkman and Sara Schumann placed top-five in nine of the fourteen races, including two first-place finishes. The duo finished with 81 total points. The B division team of Colleen O'Brien, Matt Budington, Aidan Cunningham, and Libby Redmond finished top-ten in all but two of the fourteen races. The group totaled 97 points. Harvard and Brown rounded out the top-three finishers of the regatta.Â
The Eagles also competed in the Hood Trophy, hosted by Tufts University. Boston College finished with 216 total points, placing fifth overall over the two days. The A division team of Peter Joslin and Kennedy Laureigh totaled 110 points over fourteen races, including five top-five finishes. The B division duo of Ian Hopkins Guerra and Emily Marlas finished the weekend with seven top-five placements, totaling 106 points throughout the fourteen races. Harvard, Tufts, Brown, and Bowdoin rounded out the top-five. Â
Boston College completed the weekend by competing in and hosting the Eagle Invite. The Eagles finished second overall with 195 total points. The A division team placed top-five in five of the ten races, including two first-place finishes. The team of James O'Gwen and Lourdes Gallo totaled 67 points. The B division team of Ryan McGauley and Grace Beneke finished top-five in six of the ten total races. The duo accumulated 54 points overall. The C division team of Nick Budington and Gabrielle Trinter rounded out the Eagles' sailors of the regatta. The duo finished with four top-five placements, including one first-place finish. The C division team accumulated 74 points over the two days. Roger Williams, Bowdoin, Harvard, Connecticut College, and Northeastern rounded out the other five teams competing in the invitational. Â
