Eagles Start Fast, Fall in Four to San Diego

SAN DIEGO- The Boston College volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss at San Diego on Saturday night. The Eagles are 0-2 in the San Diego Tournament and 2-3 overall in the season.
The Eagles came out in set one firing on all cylinders, with a .316 kill percentage, accumulating five service aces, and 18 digs. San Diego bounced back to claim each of the next three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-20.
Freshman Halle Schroder (Frisco, Texas) and senior Alayna Crabtree (Normal, Ill.) led the team with 11 kills each, adding on six and eight digs respectively. Sophomore Grace Milliken (Lucas, Texas) played the net tallying six blocks, while junior Julia Haggerty (Lafayette, Calif.) tacked on two solo blocks. Senior Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) protected the floor with 19 digs, leading the team.
Leyla Blackwell led the Toreros hitting .297 with 16 kills. San Diego totaled 65 digs for the match, with Madi Allen and Isadora Tercariol leading the team. Tercariol added on 47 assists guiding the Toreros offense.
The Eagles are back in action Sunday at UC Irvine at 4 p.m.
