
Eagles Head to the West Coast for San Diego Invitational and UC Irvine Face-off

The Eagles will be facing off against Tennessee, San Diego, and UC Irvine
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- The Boston College volleyball team is set for a loaded weekend as they head to the West Coast to face off in the San Diego Invitational on Friday and Saturday, before traveling to Irvine, California to face off UC Irvine on Sunday.Â
Kicking off the trip the Eagles will face Tennessee on Friday at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT The match-up will not be streamed. On Saturday the Eagles play San Diego at 8 p.m. ET./ 5 p.m. PT, the match will be streamed on ESPN+. Finishing off the trip the Eagles face off UC Irvine at 4 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. PT it will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Eagles:
The Eagles are coming off of their first loss of the season on the road against UNH. The entire team contributed in the effort as four of the eagles finished the match in the double digits in kills. Freshman Halle Schroder (Frisco, Texas) had 12, junior Jenna Pollock (St. Catharines, Ont.), sophomore Grace Milliken (Lucas, Texas), and senior Katrina Jensen (Temecula, Calif.) all had 10 on the night. Senior libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) led the defense with 22 digs, and junior Julia Haggerty (Lafayette, Calif.) protected the net with five blocks. Senior setter Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, Calif.) guided the offense with 24 assists and senior setter Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) added 21.Â
The Match-up:
Friday's match will be just the second match up of BC and Tennessee in each program's history. The sole matchup was September 8, 2012 where Tennessee won 3-0.​​ The Lady Vols are 3-0 coming off of the Tennessee Classic where they defeated Texas State, Marist, and UT Martin in three sets. Graduate student Jenaisya Moore leads the Vols with 32 kills, redshirt freshman Caroline Kerr finished the classic with 94 assists, 10 digs, and 10 service aces.
Saturday's match will be the first meeting of Boston College and San Diego. San Diego is returning home after a 0-3 streak at the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic. Falling to Oregon in three sets, and battling Hawaii and Northwestern in four sets. Freshman Nemo Beach finished the tournament with 29 kills in her college debut, senior Alex Hoglund finished the series with 95 assists, and senior Madi Allen finished with 41 digs and one service ace.
Sunday's match will be the second meeting of BC and UC Irvine as they last met on August 31, 2019 where the Eagles won in three clean sets at the Oregon Classic. UC Irvine is also coming off of a 0-3 streak at the UCI/Adidas Invitational. Falling to New Mexico in five sets, Seton Hall in three, and San Francisco in four.Â
Following the West Coast weekend, BC heads back on the road to the Iona Classic where they will be facing LIU, Fordham, and Iona beginning Thursday Sep. 7 at 7 p.m. in New Rochelle, N.Y.
