
Eagles Open the Fall Season with Two Top Ten Finishes

Boston College captures first place in the Pine Trophy.
NEW LONDON, Conn. –  Boston College Sailing opened its fall season by securing two top-ten finishes across two races this past weekend, finishing first in the Pine Trophy Regatta hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy, and placing tenth in the Harry Anderson Jr. Regatta hosted by Yale University.Â
The Eagles started off the weekend with an impressive performance at the Pine Trophy Regatta, placing first in five out of the 12 races. Boston College also finished in second place in three races, and did not place lower than fourth in all of the 12 total races. The Eagles won the race finishing with a total of 26 points, defeating Yale who placed second with 29 points. Boston College was led by skipper Michael Kirkman and crew Peter Joslin, Sophia Hacket, and Peter Busch. Brown University, Coast Guard first team, University of Rhode Island, Connecticut College, University of Vermont, and Coast Guard's second team all rounded out the top eight finishers.Â
Boston College completed the weekend with a top-ten finish at the Harry Anderson Jr. Regatta. The Eagles placed 10th out of 18 teams, with a total of 141 points. The Eagles A division, consisting of Jack Redmond and Lily Ornstein, came in 10th place out of 18 teams, and finished with 83 total points. The B division of Caroline Sibilly and Katelyn McGauley had a strong weekend, placing fifth out of 18 teams with 58 points. Coast Guard, Yale's first and second teams, and Dartmouth rounded out the top four.Â
