Eagles Earn 3-2 Win on Senior Day

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's soccer earned a 3-2 win on Senior Day against Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon at the Newton Soccer Complex.
The Eagles are 3-3-2 on the season, while the Pioneers are 1-4-2. Boston College recognized Wiebke Willebrandt, Sonia Walk, Claire Mensi, Laura Gouvin and Emily Sapienza for Senior Day.
BC didn't waste any time getting on the board, as Ava McNeil found Aislin Streicek, who then found her way into the box for her first goal in a BC uniform in the 6th minute of the contest.
Sacred Heart tied up the contest seven minutes later after a Lindsay McShea score. Twenty-six minutes later, Ella Richards and Streicek displayed a little give-and-go, leading to Streicek's second score of the contest. BC went into the half with a 2-1 edge.
BC stretched the lead to 3-1 when Claire Mensi sailed a free kick to Streicek in the box and found Sophia Lowenberg for her second goal of the season.
The Pioneers sliced the deficit to one,but BC held on for the victory.
The Eagles held a 13-8 advantage in shot attempts with six shots on goal. Willebrandt earned the triumph between the posts.
Boston College returns to action next Sunday in the ACC opener against Duke at 1 p.m. at Newton Soccer Complex.

- Sunday's contest was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., but severe weather and lightning postponed the match until 2 p.m.
- Streicek is the first Eagle since 2019 to record five points in a match.
- Mensi has a career-high five points in a BC uniform.
