CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College director of track & field and cross country Pete Watson has announced the addition of several new members to the coaching staff ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Sinead Delahunty Evans
Sinead Delahunty Evans joins the Boston College cross country and track and field program as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season. She will also be working with the distance runners for both the men's and women's cross country and track & field teams.Â
Before joining the Eagles, Delahunty Evans served as the head cross country and track coach at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass for over a decade. Under her guidance, Brandeis saw great success, with 17 athletes qualifying for NCAA Division III Championships in 11 different events. She coached many of the most decorated runners in Brandeis history, including Emily Bryson - a four-time national champion in four different events and a nine-time All-American.Â
In 2017-18 the Brandeis track and field team produced seven All-American honorees. In 2019, Brandeis' distance medley relay team captured the NCAA Indoor Championship. Delahunty Evans' teams also shined on the national stage, as the Judges placed sixth place finish at the 2018 NCAA D3 Women's Cross Country championship.
A 1993 graduate of Providence College, Delahunty Evans was a two-time Olympian for her native Ireland - in 1996 and 2000 - and raced for Ireland at four World Championships. A six-time All-America honoree with the Friars, she was inducted into the Friars' Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.Â
Watson on Delahunty Evans: "Sinead was a very important hire for us as we look to build BC into one of the top cross country and distance running programs in the NCAA. She is a highly decorated coach who has excelled at everything she has done in this sport, as a coach and as a two-time Olympian. After my first conversation with her I knew she was someone who shared my belief that Boston College should excel in this sport."
Alex Rogers
Alex Rogers joins the Boston College cross country and track and field team as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season. Rogers will also be working with the distance runners for both the men's and women's cross country and track & field teams.Â

A 2019 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Rogers was a four-time All-American with the Longhorns' cross country and track & field programs. He holds the Texas 3,000m record (7:51.11) and was named to the university's academic honor roll eight times.Â
Watson on Rogers: "Alex is a great addition to this program. He is new to the coaching world, but is eager to learn and will be able to relate and share with the team what it takes to build a winning program. Alex was one of the most coachable athletes that I worked with while I was at Texas, and I am excited to have him part of the Eagles cross country and track programs as a Coach."
Erick Duffy
Erick Duffy enters his first season with the Boston College track & field coaching staff, leading the jumpers, throwers, and combined event athletes.Â
Before joining the Eagles, Erick spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach with the Harvard Track & Field program. While with the Crimson vertical jumps, javelin, and combined events group, he helped guide athletes to new school records in the women's pole vault, as well as the men's heptathlon and decathlon. Harvard captured both the men's and women's Ivy League Championships in 2023. Â
Duffy also served as an assistant track & field coach at North Andover H.S., one of the top prep pole vaulting programs in the region. He is also the co-owner of Lux Viridi Athletic Club, committed to developing the next generation of pole vaulters and track & field athletes. As an athlete, Duffy placed fifth in the heptathlon at the 2023 USATF Indoor Championship.Â
A 2021 graduate of Harvard, he earned his masters of management studies degree from Duke's Fuqua School of Business in 2022 while competing in his final season of eligibility. He holds the Duke program record in the pole vault, capturing the 2022 ACC Championship with a personal-best 5.43m (17' 9.75").Â
Watson on Duffy: "Erick came highly recommended from the coaching staff at Harvard where he spent last year on their staff. He is a student of the sport and very enthusiastic. He will oversee our multi's, pole vault, jumps and throws and help grow that part of our program."
Liam Kahn
Liam Kahn joins the Boston College track & field program as a field events coach for the 2023-24 season. He spent the last year as an assistant throws coach at Brown University.
Â
Kahn began his athletic career at Butler as a two-sport athlete, starring for the Bulldogs' baseball and track & field teams. In 2019, Kahn placed second in the javelin throw at the Big East Championship. Â
After graduating cum laude from Butler in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in marketing, he earned his master's in management studies from Duke in May 2021. As a graduate student at Duke, he placed third in the javelin at the 2022 ACC Championships with a personal-best throw of 71.33 meters.Â

Watson on Mitchell: "Keeping Kate involved after her decorated career here was something I worked on from the moment she crossed the finish line at the NCAA's and finished her college career. Kate now runs professionally for New Balance Boston and having her stay involved with our program and be accessible to our athletes as such a positive person will make this program and our athletes much better."
