Eagles Open Season with 0-0 Tie at Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - Boston College women's soccer and Cal State Fullerton drew to a 0-0 tie on Friday evening in the season opener at Titan Stadium.
Both teams start the season 0-0-1.
It was a defensive stalemate in the first half as both teams went into the break, 0-0. Willebrandt made two key saves, including a stop in the 42nd minute to keep the score tied.
Emily Sapienza had a chance in the second half to give the Eagles the lead with a penalty kick, but Mia Ranson made a play of her own in the net to keep the Eagles and Titans tied.
With four minutes remaining, Ella Richards' shot on goal was stopped for BC's final opportunity to take the lead.
Both teams attempted 10 shots, with BC attempting four shots that were on target. Sydney Segalla, Sapienza and Richards tallied two shot attempts and one on goal.
Wiebke Willebrandt made three stops in the net for the sixth shutout of her career.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET against Long Beach State in the final contest of the weekend.
