Kristie Mewis '13 Named to U.S. World Cup Team

The marks the first World Cup roster for Mewis.
CHICAGO – Boston College women's soccer alumna Kristie Mewis has been named to the United States National Team that will compete in the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. is one of seven midfielders on the 23-player roster.
This marks the first World Cup roster for Mewis.
The USWNT will play a sendoff match against Wales on July 9 in San Jose, Calif. before beginning the tournament in earnest on July 22 against Vietnam in New Zealand.
Mewis debuted with the USWNT on Feb. 9, 2013 against Scotland and then recorded her fist goal on June 15, 2013 in a friendly at Gillette Stadium. After a five-year absence from the national team, Mewis was once again called up to the full national team in October 2020 and earned her first appearance in over six years on Nov. 27, 2020. She went on to make the Olympic roster, helping the U.S. to a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Hanson, Mass. native now has 50 caps, seven goals and four assists for the senior national team. She currently plays for NJ/NY Gotham FC in the National Women's Soccer League.
In her time on the Heights, Mewis recorded 116 points in 89 games. The three-time Hermann Trophy semifinalist tallied 39 goals and 38 assists as an Eagle and served as a captain during her senior season.
