Eagles Close Spring Season on High Note
May 02, 2023 | Men's Soccer
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team closed out its spring season with a 2-0 win, finishing the spring slate with a 3-1-1 record including three straight victories to close out the season. The Eagles fielded a very young team this spring, starting each match with six to seven freshmen student-athletes.
"We are incredibly proud of the work that our players have put in this spring season," said head coach Bob Thompson. "Not only did they show great improvement every match resulting in three straight wins to end the year, but also an incredible level of maturity for such a young group. It was a great way to end the year and we are excited to continue to improve this upcoming fall season."
After missing the entire 2022 fall season due to injury, sophomore Drew Serafino led the team with three goals while fellow sophomore Sam White posted a goal. Freshmen Ted Cargill, Augustine Boadi, and Christian Bejar all added a goal and Alfie Hughes, who joined the team prior to the spring season, collected his first goal.
Newly appointed captain Diego Ochoa led the back line, which finished the spring with three shutouts in five games. Goalkeepers Brennan Klein, Leon Musial and Thomas Jordan all received starts and anchored the Eagles' defense. Freshmen Connor Gibson and Erick Almendares also played a significant role this spring in the back.
The Eagles look forward to kicking off their fall season on Aug. 24 at home in Newton. The full 2023 schedule will be released over the summer.
