
Eagles Come Back to Even Series in Front of Record Crowd

Seven-run sixth propels No. 11 Boston College on One Boston Day.
A five-run top of the fourth put BC down, but the Eagles climbed back from a five-run deficit in the sixth with seven runs. The Eagles doubled three times in the inning; getting the first two runs on a double off the left field wall from sophomore third baseman Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) and went in front on a two-run double past third by junior right fielder Travis Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.).
BC turned the ball over to graduate right-hander and closer Andrew Roman (Monson, Mass.) in the seventh for the final nine outs. Roman scattered three hits, on in each of inning of work, with no runs allowed and two strikeouts to earn his eighth save of the season.
Junior RHP Joey Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) was the first reliever of the day for the Eagles. Ryan (1-0) got the win in 1.1 innings of work with three strikeouts and one walk. Graduate RHP Chris Flynn (Naugatuck, Conn.) cruised three the first three innings of his start, but ran into trouble in the fourth as Duke plated five runs. Flynn gave up six runs, four earned, on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched.
For the Blue Devils, RHP Alex Gow surrendered five runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in a five-inning start. Fellow righty Aidan Weaver (3-2) took the loss with three runs charged to his line in one-third of an inning.
Honeyman led the BC lineup with a 3-for-5 day. Walsh, Wang and junior first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) all contributed two hits.
