Five Former Eagles Sign Professional Contracts

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Five former members of the Boston College men's soccer program have signed professional contracts, including three which are affiliated with MLS clubs.

Victor Souza signed an MLS NEXT Pro contract with the New England Revolution, who drafted him 39th overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft in December. Souza was named to the All-ACC Third Team in each of his final two seasons on the Heights. The defender closed his career with 48 NCAA starts and nearly 4,400 minutes played.

Souza's classmate Amos Shapiro-Thompson inked an MLS NEXT Pro contract with the New York Red Bulls, who selected the former BC captain with the 79th pick in the MLS SuperDraft. Shapiro-Thompson returned from a season-ending injury as a junior to earn 14 starts in the midfield during his senior season. He posted seven points on two goals and three assists.

Tyshawn Rose was signed to an MLS NEXT Pro deal by North Texas SC, the affiliate of FC Dallas. Rose spent five years playing for Boston College with 70 appearances, 5,640 minutes played and four assists during his NCAA career. He started all 16 games during the 2022 campaign and ranked second on the team in minutes played while wearing a captain's armband.

Stefan Sigurdarson signed with Breidablik Kópavogur in his native Iceland. Sigurdarson led the ACC in total goals (12) and points (25) this past season as a senior and closed the year ranked fifth nationally in total goals and 10th in total points. The striker closed his career in a tie with Brian Siracusa for third place all-time on the program's single-season goals list.

Former goalkeeper and captain Christian Garner was signed to a contract by the USL's Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Garner started in net for the majority of his final three seasons with the Eagles, earning ACC All-Academic recognition as a senior in 2021. He played over 2,500 minutes at Boston College and earned eight shutouts in 28 career appearances.
