
Boston College Takes Top-25 Series From FSU

Eagles start ACC play 4-2 behind 8-2 win on Sunday.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No. 24 Boston College baseball took its series at No. 21 Florida State with an 8-2 victory on Sunday at Dick Howser Stadium. The Eagles are 14-3 for the first time in program history and 4-2 in the ACC for the first time since joining the league.

The series win was the second in BC's last three trips to FSU, starting in 2019.

The Eagles overcame a brief deficit with the Seminoles plating the first run of the day in the bottom of the first on a passed ball with runners on the corners. BC answered immediately with two runs in the second and never looked back.

Junior right-hander John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) went four innings in the start for Boston College. He allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts in a no-decision. Graduate RHP Henry Leake (Burbank, Calif.) came on for four-shutout innings of relief. Leake (2-1) struck out seven and scattered five hits with no walks.

RHP Carson Montgomery (0-1) took the loss in a 2.2-inning start for the Seminoles. He gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

For BC, senior shortstop Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.) and junior right fielder Travis Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) each collected two hits.
