Mai Gao Earns Singles Win as UNC Tops BC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The No. 10 North Carolina Tar Heels (8-4, 1-0) defeated the Boston College Eagles, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles (5-3, 0-2) got on the board at No. 5 singles, with Mai Gao winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Max Motlagh and Mason Fung played to a 5-5 match at No. 2 doubles before UNC clinched the point.

BC starts a west coast road trip next week, starting with the Pacific Coast Doubles, and followed by matches at UC Davis and Fresno Pacific University.
