Abigail Levy is a semifinalist for the National Goalie of the Year Award for the second consecutive season.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey goaltender Abigail Levy is one of 11 goaltenders that have been named a semifinalist for the 2023 National Women's Goalie of the Year Award, as announced on Thursday by the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association.
Levy currently sports a .942 save percentage, 1.82 goals against and three shutouts on the season. Her .942 save percentage ranks third overall in the country but is first among goaltenders that make at least 20 saves per game. Levy's 1.82 goals against average is the seventh-best mark among goaltenders that have played more than 20 games. She has made at least 30 saves in eight games this season. The Congers, N.Y. native earned Hockey East Goaltender of the Week honors in January.
Earlier this season, Levy surpassed the 3,000 career saves mark and has made 2,117 of her 3,657 career saves at Boston College. The alternate captain is fourth among all active Division I goaltenders with 49 career wins while leading all active goaltenders in saves (3,657). Last year, Levy was a semifinalist for the 2022 National Goaltender of the Year Award and was the 2022 Bertagna Award winner (Beanpot Tournament's top goaltender). She is one of four repeat semifinalists for the 2023 National Women's Goalie of the Year Award.
The conference offices came up with the initial "Watch List" of goalies and then a committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, and media — narrowed the list down to 11. The three finalists will be announced during conference championships and the winner will be announced during the NCAA Frozen Four in Duluth, Minn.
