Hockey East Tabs Levy, Barnes For Weekly Awards

Abigail Levy was named the Player of the Week while Cayla Barnes was tabbed the Army ROTC Defender of the Week.
AMESBURY, Mass. – Boston College goaltender Abigail Levy has been named the Hockey East Player of the Week while Cayla Barnes is the Hockey East Army ROTC Defender of the Week, as announced Monday by the league.
Levy went 2-0-0 last week, stopping 65 of 66 shots for a .985 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average. The Congers, N.Y. native posted a 30-save shutout in BC's 3-0 win over Harvard in the Beanpot Tournament semifinal and followed it up with a 35-save performance in a 2-1 win at rival Boston University on Saturday.
Barnes scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in BC's Beanpot victory while adding four blocked shots and four shots on goal. In the win over the Terriers, the Eastvale, Calif. native added three blocked shots and three shots on goal. Barnes tied for the league lead with her seven blocked shots while adding her seven shots on goal and a plus-2 rating.
This is the first Player of the Week honor for Levy, who has also been named the Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week twice this season and five times in her BC career. This is the third time this season that Barnes, the league's January Defender of the Month, has been named the Defender of the Week and the fourth of her career.
