Seven Eagles Selected to U.S. National Junior Team

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Seven members of the Boston College men's hockey team were selected to the 2024 U.S. National Junior Team on Saturday ahead of the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden.Â
Forwards Cutter Gauthier, Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault and Will Smith, defensemen Drew Fortescue and Aram Minnetian, and goaltender Jacob Fowler earned spots on the final 25-man roster that will represent the United States from Dec. 26, 2023 – Jan. 5, 2024 in Gothenburg, Sweden.Â
Perreault (5-20-25), Smith (8-15-23), Gauthier (13-10-23) and Leonard (10-8-18) are the top four scorers for the 13-3-1 Eagles through 17 games this season. Fortescue (3-1-4) and Minnetian (1-3-4) have skated in all 17 games on the blue line, combining for a plus-10 rating and eight points.Â
Fowler has won back-to-back Hockey East Goaltender of the Month Awards to begin his career and leads the country in winning percentage (.794) among Division I netminders with a 13-3-1 record. He ranks second in the league and 11th nationally with a .925 save percentage.
Gauthier had a 4-6-10 line in seven games as a member of last year's bronze-medal squad at the 2023 World Junior Championship in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He later posted a 7-2-9 line in 10 games for the U.S. at the 2023 IIHF Men's World Championship in Finland and Latvia.
NHL Network is the exclusive home of the IIHF World Junior Championship in the United States and will air every Team USA game live, in addition to all quarterfinal, semifinal and medal games.
The U.S. begins the tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 26 against Norway at 11 a.m. (ET). The Americans will also face Switzerland, Czechia, and Slovakia in preliminary round action before the quarterfinals start on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Â
