
Eagles Fall to Harvard

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball suffered a 66-59 loss to Harvard on Thursday evening inside Conte Forum.Â
BC falls to 1-1, while the Crimson move to 1-1 on the season.Â
Dontavia Waggoner led the offense with 17 points, grabbed six boards and registered three steals. Teya Sidberry tied a personal best with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting with six off the glass and three swipes.Â
Andrea Daley led the team with nine rebounds and scored eight. JaKayla Thompson dished out a team-best five assists.Â
The Eagles put together an 8-0 run in the early goings of the contest to take a 12-5 lead after a Thompson layup. Harvard responded by cutting the lead to one before Nene Ndiaye hit two at the line to give BC a 14-11 lead going into the second period.Â
Boston College built the lead in the second quarter, as a Sidberry trifecta ignited an 8-1 spurt, stretching a 26-14 lead to 19 for its largest lead of the game. The visitors climbed back into the contest going into the locker room, where BC held a 35-26 edge. The defense held Harvard to 33.3 shooting in the first half and 0-of-6 from 3-point range.Â
Waggoner scored five straight points with the Eagles leading by nine to push the lead back to double digits, 44-30. However, the Crimson didn't go away as they were able to bring the deficit back down to single digits to six at the end of the third.Â
The fourth quarter belonged to Harvard, where a 12-2 run over the last 4:15 of the game clinched the win for the Crimson. BC had a chance to tie while down three with 28 seconds left, but the 3-point attempt was short.Â
Boston College recorded 20 offensive rebounds, but scored just 14 points, while being outscored at the line by 16.Â
BC returns to action on Sunday for a third straight home game, facing Northeastern inside Conte Forum at 2 p.m.Â
