Eagles Improve to 8-5 on the Year
NEWTON, Mass. – The No. 11 Eagles (8-5, 1-3 ACC) got back in the win column on Monday against Brown (4-7, 0-4 IVY), claiming a 4-2 victory.
Peyton Hale and Simone Hefting led the way for the Boston College offense, each recording two goals with Hefting also tallying an assist. Boston College tallied a 22-3 shot advantage, in addition to a 17-2 corner discrepancy.
Brown struck first in the 10th minute of the first quarter to take a 1-0 lead they would hold onto into halftime. The Eagles had a plethora of quality opportunities in the first half, creating 11 shots and five corners, but weren't able to convert.
BC's persistence in drawing corners finally paid off in the third, as Hale evened the score by sending a penalty corner setup from Martina Giacchino and Eva Kluskens into the top right shelf with 8:36 left in the quarter. Not even three minutes later, Hefting would net a rebound off another BC corner to take the lead. The graduate defender would flex her versatility even more to open the fourth quarter, setting up Hale for her second goal of the game. In the 52nd minute, Hefting would find the back of the cage once more to cap off the Eagles' impressive scoring display.
