Mia Garber Scores Fifth Goal of The Season
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 11 Eagles (7-5, 1-3 ACC) fought valiantly in a tightly-contested road affair against the No. 1 Tar Heels (9-1, 3-0 ACC), but fell short 3-1 on Friday.
Boston College struggled to get their offense going in the first half, tallying just two shots in the first half. The Eagles' defense kept pace with the top team in the nation to keep the game tied throughout the first 24 minutes of play, recording four saves in that span. UNC would take its first lead of the game with 5:43 left in the half.
BC kicked off the second half earning three penalty corners in the third period of action, including a high-quality look that was saved by a Tar Heel defender in a last-second effort. Sophomore Mia Garber cut into North Carolina's lead in the fourth, netting a diving redirect from Peyton Hale for her fifth goal of the 2023 campaign. UNC would close out the game with a third goal after a BC yellow card gave them a player-up advantage, securing the victory 3-1.
