
Eagles Battle No. 3 Tar Heels to the Brink

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's soccer pushed No. 3 North Carolina to the brink in a hard-fought 1-1 draw on Thursday evening at the Newton Soccer Complex.
The Eagles end the season at 3-9-6 and 0-6-4 in ACC play, recording a result in the final four matches. BC earns its first result against UNC since 2011.
Wiebke Willebrandt totaled nine saves in a stellar outing, surpassing Alexis Bryant (2015-18) for fourth all-time in school history in career saves with 238.
Aislin Streicek broke the scoreless tie in the 31st minute of the contest after her corner found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead and the momentum. BC's defense held the Tar Heels without a goal the rest of the first half to go into the break with a one-goal advantage.
UNC's Ally Sentnor scored in the first 15 minutes of the second half to bring the score to a 1-1 tie.The BC defense dug in for the final 30 minutes to clinch the point, as it posted five saves, including a pair of defensive stops by Sydney Segalla and Claire Mensi during a flurry of attempts from the visitors in the draw.
