Sailing Competes in Four Regattas on the Weekend, Including a Second Place Finish at Women's ACC's

NEW HAVEN, Conn. –  Boston College Sailing completed its sixth weekend of the fall season by placing second overall at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship, while also competing at the NEISA Match Race Championship, Captain Hurst Bowl, and the Savin Hill Invite.  
The Eagles started off the weekend with a stellar performance at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship, hosted by Yale. Boston College placed second overall as a team with 136 points, trailing Stanford who finished with 99 points. The Eagles B division team led the way throughout the two-day regatta, finishing top-five in 10 of 12 races. The B division duo of Michaela O'Brien and Sara Schumann placed first in four races, and finished with 43 points on the weekend which was good for second overall out of 18 B division teams. The A division team of Caroline Sibilly and Katelyn McGauley completed the weekend with six top-ten finishes over the twelve races, while compiling 93 points. Stanford, Cornell, Yale, and Harvard rounded out the top-five finishers at the regatta.
Boston College continued the weekend by competing at the NEISA Match Race Championship, which was hosted by Bowdoin. The regatta featured eight teams that competed over the two days, with the Eagles placing fifth with 15 points. The Regatta only consisted of three races, and the Eagles finished fifth place in all three. Boston College had Michael Kirkman at Skipper, and a crew containing Peter Joslin, Peter Busch, and Sophia Hacket. Brown, Coast Guard, Yale, and Tufts rounded out the top-five at the event. Brown was the overall winner, placing first place in each of the three races.Â
The Eagles also competed at the Captain Hurst bowl. The regatta was hosted by Harvard, and it featured 16 teams. Boston College totaled 206 points over the weekend, which placed them eighth overall as a team. The A division team of Colleen O'Brien and Libby Redmond totaled 101 points. The duo placed top-ten in eight of twelve races, including two top-three finishes. Jack Redmond and Lily Ornstein totaled 105 points for the Eagles, while placing top-ten in seven races. The B division duo also had two top-five performances throughout the twelve races. Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Tufts, Bowdoin, and Brown rounded out the top eight team performances at the Captain Hurst Bowl.
Boston College completed the weekend by competing at the Savin Hill Invite. This Regatta was hosted by the Eagles, and it showcased 17 teams. The Eagles sent out two squads, with Eagles 1 placing 2nd overall, and Eagles 2 placing 10th overall. Eagles 1 piled up 84 points, placing second overall just behind Brown (81). The Eagles 1 A division team of Ian Hopkins Guerra and Emily Marlas totaled 44 points, and finished top-three in four of the eight races. The B division team of Nick Budington and Kennedy Laureigh placed top-ten in all eight races, including two first-place finishes. The duo compiled 40 points, which led the Eagles 1 team to place second overall. Boston College also had the Eagles 2 team compete. They totaled 148 points, placing 10th overall. The Eagles 2 team consisted of Ryan McGualey and Griffin Gigliotti at Skippers, and Grace Beneke and Chip Kreuzkamp at crew. The group placed top-ten in 10 of 16 races, including four top-five finishes. Brown, Webb Institute, Tufts, and Fordham rounded out the top-five at the regatta.Â
