AMESBURY, Mass. – Hockey East announced on Monday that Boston College women's hockey defender Cayla Barnes has been named the league's Army ROTC Defender of the Week.

Barnes helped the Eagles to a sweep of Maine this past weekend, as BC picked up a pair of 4-1 wins at Kelley Rink. On Thursday night, the senior captain pulled the Eagles even midway through the second period and then assisted on Abby Newhook's game-winning goal later in the period for her second multi-point game of the season. The Eastvale, Calif. native went on to finish the weekend with two blocked shots, three shots on goal and a plus-4 rating.

Barnes now has eight points on four goals and four assists to go with 31 blocked shots on the year.

This marks the second Defender of the Week honor for Barnes this season and the third of her career.
