BC Set to Host #11 Providence on Friday Night

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The RV/RV Boston College women's hockey team will host #12/11 Providence for a single game on Friday night at Kelley Rink. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.

The Hockey East contest will stream live on ESPN+ as well as TSN+.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
• RV Boston College will host #11 Providence for a single game on Friday night at Kelley Rink.
• It will be the first meeting between the Eagles and Friars in over a year ... the teams last met on Jan. 25, 2022 at Kelley Rink, with BC picking up a 4-2 win.
• BC is coming off a 1-1-0 weekend at home, falling to #11 Vermont, 3-2, but topping Merrimack, 4-0.
• Providence earned a 7-4 road win at UNH on Friday before battling to a 4-4 tie at Maine.

A WIN ON FRIDAY WOULD . . .
• Move Boston College to 16-12-1 overall with a mark of 14-10-0 in Hockey East play.
• Bump the Eagles to 42-41-3 in the all-time series with the Friars.

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE
• Boston College sits at 15-12-1 overall with a mark of 13-10-0 in Hockey East play.
• The Eagles went 1-1-0 at home this past weekend ... on Friday night, BC jumped out to a 2-0 lead on #11 Vermont before falling, 3-2 ... Saturday saw the Eagles pick up a 4-0 win over Merrimack that included Grace Campbell's first career shutout with 19 saves and multi-point games from Hannah Bilka, Abby Newhook and Katie Pyne.
• Bilka leads the Eagles in points (32), assists (21) and shots on goal (100) and ranks fifth in Hockey East with a 1.23 point per game average ... Newhook (14-13-27) is second on the team in scoring and first in goals ... Kelly Browne (6-9-15), Gaby Roy (6-8-14), Cayla Barnes (5-7-12) and Pyne (8-4-12) have all hit double-digit points.
• Browne is second in Hockey East and tied for 11th in the nation with 292 face-off wins.
• Abigail Levy is 11-10-1 with a .942 save percentage, 1.86 goals against average and three shutouts ... Levy's .942 save percentage is third best in the country and leads all goaltenders who make at least 20 saves per game.
• BC's penalty kill-rate of 90.3 percent ranks second in Hockey East and fourth overall in the nation.

ABOUT PROVIDENCE COLLEGE
• Providence enters Friday night's contest with an overall mark of 18-8-4 and a Hockey East record of 13-6-4.
• The Friars played two road games this past weekend, picking up a 7-4 win at New Hampshire and then battling Maine to a 4-4 tie.
• Sara Hjalmarsson leads Providence in goals (20), assists (16) and points (36) … she has scored five game-winning goals, two power-play goals and one short-handed goal this season.
• Sandra Abstreiter has played every minute between the pipes, going 18-8-4 with a .929 save percentage, 1.79 goals against average and six shutouts.
• Providence was picked to finish fourth in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll.

• Boston College is 41-41-3 all-time against Providence since elevating to Division I status for the 1995-96 season.
