Eagles Head to Matthews Tuesday to Face No. 20 Northeastern

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College makes its third trip of the season to Matthews Arena on Tuesday night to close the Hockey East regular season series against No. 20 Northeastern at 7 p.m. The game will air live on NESN and ESPN+ with radio coverage on WEEI 850 AM.Â
SETTING THE SCENE
• The Eagles can clinch the Hockey East regular season series against NU with a win or tie
• BC will try to snap a four-game winless streak after falling to No. 4 Boston University in both games of a home-and-home series last weekend
• The Huskies have won four games in a row after sweeping Merrimack 5-1 and 1-0
• Boston College is 3-1-2 in its last six visits to Matthews Arena
SERIES HISTORY
• Tuesday marks the 251st all-time meeting in series history
• Boston College leads the all-time series 174-58-18
• BC is 7-3-2 in the last 12 matchups between the schools
• This will be the Eagles' third trip to Matthews Arena this season, with the previous two meetings both ending in ties on Oct. 18 and Nov. 11

THE SEASON SERIES
• Cutter Gauthier scored his first collegiate goal in the third period during his NCAA debut as the teams skated to a 3-3 tie at Matthews in a non-conference game on Oct. 18
• Juniors Trevor Kuntar and Colby Ambrosio lit the lamp in the second period
• Northeastern came back from 4-1 down in the third period, tying the game in the final second of regulation, before winning a shootout over Boston College for an extra Hockey East point on Nov. 11 to open a home-and-home series
• The Eagles responded the following night as Marshall Warren broke a 2-2 tie near the midway point of the third period and BC earned a 3-2 Hockey East victory
• Ambrosio and Kuntar netted goals in the first period for BC, which out-shot NU 36-21
POWER UP
• Boston College is second in the league and ninth nationally on the power play at 25.6%
• The Eagles have scored at least once on the power play in 16 of their last 21 games
• BC was a combined 3-for-8 last weekend over two games against BU
