» Boston College visits Lane Stadium for its ACC opener against Virginia Tech in primetime on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m.
» The Eagles are coming off a season-opening, 22-21 loss to Rutgers out of the Big Ten.
» The game will air on ACC Network with Dave O’Brien (play-by-play) on the call along with former Eagle quarterback Tim Hasselbeck (analyst) and Kelsey Riggs (sideline reporter).
» Coverage on the Boston College Sports Network begins 30 minutes prior to kickoff on WEEI 93.7 FM and 850 AM. Jon Meterparel (play-by-play) is joined on the call by former BC linebacker Pete Cronan in the booth and quarterback Scott Mutryn on the sideline.
» BC trails the all-time series with Virginia Tech, 11-19. The Eagles and Scarlet Knights last faced in a 17-3 BC win on November 5, 2021; the Eagles’ annual Red Bandanna Game.
» The 2021 win marked the return of quarterback Phil Jurkovec for BC and snapped a four-game losing streak for the Eagles on the way to a six-win, bowl-eligible season.
» Virginia Tech joined the ACC in 2004 and Boston College joined a year later after both competed in the Big East. As ACC members, BC is 8-9 against Va. Tech in regular season contests.
» BC last won in Blacksburg in 2018, 31-21, as the No. 24 team in the AP poll. The win moved the Eagles to No. 17 and secured a visit to Chestnut Hill from ESPN’s College Gameday a week later.
» The Eagles are 6-11 all-time in ACC openers and 1-1 under Hafley, including a road win at Duke in his coaching debut in 2020.
» BC has won each of its last six true road openers beginning with a 2016 win at UMass, which came a week after a loss to Georgia Tech in Ireland.
