Eagles Announce 2022-23 Captains

Cayla Barnes, Hannah Bilka and Kelly Browne will serve as captains of the team while Alexie Guay and Abbey Levy will don the As.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Cayla Barnes, Hannah Bilka and Kelly Browne will serve as captains of the 2022-23 Boston College women's ice hockey team, with Alexie Guay and Abigail Levy voted as alternate captains.

Browne becomes the first three-year captain in program history while Barnes is the ninth two-year captain. This is the first year that Bilka, Guay and Levy will wear a letter on their jerseys.

Browne, who will be a graduate student, led the Eagles in scoring in 2021-22 with 34 points off of 10 goals and a career-high  24 assists. Browne led BC and ranked second in Hockey East with 389 face-off wins and was first among BC forwards and sixth overall with a career-high 27 blocked shots. This past season, the Burlington, Mass. native became the 17th player in program history to eclipse 100 career points. Browne has skated in all 129 games that BC has played over the last four seasons and ranks 17th in program history with 117 (41-76-117).

Bilka, a rising senior, was a Hockey East First Team All-Star and NEHWAÂ Division I All-Star this past season after recording 33 points on 16 goals and 17 assists. She recorded career-highs in goals (16), game-winning goals (4), shots on goal (146), short-handed goals (2) and plus-minus (+18). Bilka, who became the 35th player in program history to reach 75 career points this past season, will enter her fourth season as an Eagle with 86 points on 37 goals and 49 assists.

Barnes, who will be a redshirt senior, spent this past season as a member of the U.S. Women's National Team that won a silver-medal the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China. She enters her fourth season on the Heights with 56 career points on 14 goals and 42 assists, ranking 10th all-time in points and ninth all-time in goals by a BC defender. The Eastvale, Calif. native was an AHCA Second Team All-American and Hockey East First Team All-Star selection in 2020-21.

Guay played in all 34 of BC's contests during the 2021-22 season, setting career-highs in points (23), goals (6), assists (17), power-play goals (3) and game-winning goals (1). The Magog, Quebec native also led the team with a career-high 58 blocked shots and was a three-time Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honoree. Guay, who will be a senior, has skated in 88 games as an Eagle, recording 53 points on 14 goals and 39 assists.

Levy started 33 of BC's 34 and led the country with 1,143 saves this past season while also finishing tied for 11th nationally with her .932 save percentage. The Congers, N.Y. native went 18-14-1Â to finish fifth overall in the country in wins and her .932 save percentage was first among goaltenders who made at least 30 saves per game. Levy, who will be a graduate student in the fall, was a semifinalist for the 2022 National Women's Goalie of the Year Award and was named the Bertagna Award winner as the Beanpot Tournament's top goaltender. Levy has appeared in 44 games in her two season as an Eagle.
