Situational football takes center stage.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College football held preseason practice No. 12 on Thursday morning. The Eagles started the day inside Fish Field House before moving the bulk of practice to the outdoor grass fields. Situational-football played a large part in the practice plan for the second day in a row.
Â
Early Work: Wide receivers and defensive backs went through one-on-ones in the field house… the first team period featured the offense backed up in the shadow of its own goal post from the one- and three-yard line… Phil Jurkovec aired it out early to Zay Flowers; putting a ball in his numbers just beyond the DB's reach… Jaiden Woodbey recorded an interception… BC worked on several goal-to-go situations.
2-Minute Drill: (1:12, down 3, 1 TO, own 33) the first team defense came up with a stop as it held the offense outside of field goal range and an offensive penalty resulted in a 10-second runoff… the second team defense also recorded a stop with a turnover on downs outside of field goal range. (:25, down 3, 0 TO, minus 45) Jurkovec got the offense down field immediately with a completion to Dante Reynolds for 35 yards, but back-to-back incompletions, led to a third down completion short of the sticks and the clock reached zeroes before the ball could be snapped… Morehead started the second team with a completion to Dino Tomlin and a big pick up down to the 30-yard line to tight end Tommy Birmingham setting up a chance to clock the football and attempt a field goal.
