CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College volleyball alum Amaka Chukwujekwu (Laurel, Md.) has been named a nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.
Chukwujekwu, who returnned to the Heights for a fifth year of eligibility in 2021 following the completion of her degree, left as the program's all-time leader in total blocks (461), block assists (381), hitting percentage (.306) and sets played (512). She also owns the top two single-season hitting percentages in BC history at .377 (2019) and .342 (2021).
In the split 2020-21 season, Chukwujekwu earned her second straight All-ACC Second Team honor; becoming just the second two-time All-ACC pick from Boston College.
The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2022.
The Top 30 honorees (10 per division) will be announced in October. Nine finalists (three per division) will be announced in November. The 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the 2023 NCAA Convention in January.
