BC second baseman chosen by Detroit Tigers 147th overall.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior second baseman Luke Gold (Ballston, N.Y.) was selected in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon. Gold, who is the fifth Eagle drafted in the first six rounds over the last four years, was taken with the 147th overall pick.

Gold is the 83rd overall draft pick from Boston College. He is the third Eagle drafted by the Tigers and first since Mike Martin (1994). All-time, BC has had 17 players drafted in the first 10 rounds.

An All-ACC Second Team honoree, Gold hit .308 with a .557 slugging percentage. He tied for the team-high inn hits at 62 and added nine home runs, 38 runs scored and 37 driven in. Gold became the third fastest player to career hits in BBC history; doing so inn his 80th career game. He is a career .303 hitter with 132 hits, 40 doubles, 19 home runs, 97 RBI and a .540 slugging percentage.
