Eagles begin final week of practice before the annual Spring Game
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Football returned to the turf inside Fish Field House on Tuesday morning for its penultimate practice leading up to Saturday's annual Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game at Alumni Stadium.Â
First Track Heard During Team Flex:Â "Whats Poppin" (Jack Harlow Feat. DaBaby, Lil Wayne & Tory Lanez)
Â
3rd-and-Long: Both the offense and defense made plays during competitive 3rd-and-long situations near midfield. Emmett Morehead delivered accurate throws to Dino Tomlin down the left seam and Dante Reynolds along the right sideline for 20-plus yard gains. Linebacker Bryce Steele and defensive tackle Izaiah Henderson both penetrated into the backfield leading to negative plays in the run game. In the secondary, Jaiden Woodbey, Elijah Jones and Josh DeBerry all denied throws in tight single coverage.Â
Backed Up: Boston College moved the ball back into the shadow of its endzone to work against poor field position. Jaden Williams picked up a chunk gain on a quick jet sweep around the right side, and Alec Sinkfield found a crease created on the left side of the line by Finn Dirstine and Jack Conley. DeBerry later jumped a route on the right side of the formation for a pick six.
Nice hands Dante: The field was flipped to put the offense near the redzone for the next portion of team drills. Reynolds stood out for the second team, catching a pair of touchdowns from Morehead in quick succession. Reynolds created separation down the left sideline for a 26-yard score, then came down with a contested 5-yard fade while keeping a foot in bounds in the same corner.Â
Final Sequence: Down seven points at midfield with 50 seconds left and no timeouts was the situation presented at the end of Tuesday's session. Both defensive units got stops, beginning with the first team denying George Takacs one yard short of the endzone on a low throw over the middle. The second team limited progress and forced one final heave to the endzone with time expiring, which was picked off by Jason Scott in traffic.Â
