Eagles to play for Beanpot title next Tuesday vs. UMass after 4-2 win over Northeastern.
BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team earned a 4-2 win over Northeastern at the Harrington Athletics Village on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Eagles improved to 13-16 on the season and secured a spot in the Beanpot championship game against Massachusetts next Tuesday.
BC trailed 2-0 in the fourth after a two-run home run by Danny Crossen. The Eagles answered with two in the bottom half beginning with a solo home run from sophomore right fielder Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.). Junior second baseman Luke Gold (Ballston, N.Y.) then doubled and scored the tying run on a base hit to center from senior first baseman Ramon Jimenez (Chicopee, Mass.).
An inning later, junior catcher Parker Landwehr (Baltimore, Md.) hit a go-ahead two-run home run to right with two gone. It marked the second straight game the Eagles won on a home run by Landwehr.
Freshman right-hander Luke Delongchamp (Holden, Mass.) got the win in a five-inning start. He allowed two runs on four hits without a walk and struck out one. Sophomore RHP Joey Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) was the third BC reliever of the game and recorded his second save in a perfect two innings of work.
Owen Langan (1-1) took the loss in an inning of relief with two runs charged to him on one hit with one strikeout.
