Transfer from Cincinnati has three years of eligibility remaining
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Mason Madsen has signed his financial aid agreement and will continue his academic and athletic endeavors at Boston College.
Madsen, a 6-4, 200 lb. guard has played two seasons at Cincinnati and will retain three years of eligibility remaining due to the rules regarding COVID-19 during the 2020-21 campaign.
"We are excited to have Mason join our basketball family," said head coach Earl Grant. "He adds a lot to our program with his experience, enthusiasm and knowledge of the game. He's a physical athlete and has a great knack for scoring in a variety of ways. Mason has experienced winning and understands what it takes to be successful at this level."
Hailing from Rochester, Minn., Madsen saw action in 45 games for the Bearcats, averaging nearly 5.0 points per game in 14.2 minutes per game. For his career, he is connecting at nearly 35% from beyond the arc (48-139), including a team-best 36.3% clip in 2021-22.
One of the most athletic guards in the American Athletic Conference, Madsen was measured at 44 inches for his vertical leap. He has registered a career effective field goal percentage - a metric that adjusts FG% to account for 3-pointers - of 51.0%. Cincinnati was 6-1 when Madsen connected on three or more 3-pointers.
During the 2021-22 academic year, Madsen earned a spot on the dean's list at Cincinnati. He was a three-star prospect out of Mayo Senior H.S. and scored over 2,000 points as a prep. Teaming with his twin brother Gabe - a member of the Utah men's basketball program - he was coached all four seasons as a prep by his father, Luke.
